The Stuttering Foundation of America is a nonprofit that provides resources for the prevention and treatment of stuttering for people of all ages. In addition to their English site, they have a Spanish sister site, La Fundación Americana de la Tartamudez. In 2017, Stuttering Foundation of America asked Brick Factory to help them modernize their Spanish site and give it a more visual look with the ultimate goal of increasing user engagement.
To update the Stuttering Foundation of America’s Spanish website, we adjusted the layout of elements, the typography, and the color palette all while developing a more visually-enticing website.
Our most noticeable visual design improvement was the addition of header images. We added header images to each audience-specific page, focusing on the groups of people the Stuttering Foundation of America aims to help.
Previously, the website used hyperlinked text to take users to different PDF resources. With the redesign, we put the links to these resources into a grid, creating a more visually-appealing, inviting library. We also converted the PDF files into basic pages on the website, which will help improve the search rankings for the resources.
In order to improve the user experience, we developed a clean design for the contact and email signup form.
We made the contact form a call-to-action on each of the sections of the site to encourage website visitors to reach out.
In order to create a better browsing experience for users on various devices, we made all the forms mobile responsive.
The basis of this website is Drupal: a content management system that allows Stuttering Foundation of America staff to add new resources and edit existing content without a developer.
For this project, the Stuttering Foundation of America was interested in creative, cost-saving approaches. We decided to build on top of the existing Drupal architecture and focus on front end improvements, saving development time and lowering the budget.
