The International Youth Foundation (IYF) is a nonprofit that works to ensure that young people everywhere reach their full potential by developing the necessary leadership, technical, and life skills to succeed.
IYF proposed building a microsite that would specifically advertise several of their in-person and online training courses. In late 2018, Brick Factory started building the Passport to Success (PTS) microsite.
NAVIGATION ORGANIZATION
The main menu is organized in a way that aims to answer key questions about the website. Users can quickly identify information about PTS, the benefits of PTS for various target audiences, the problems that PTS solves, and how PTS solves those problems. This makes for an improved user journey.
CLEAR CALL TO ACTION
Since the purpose of the microsite is to encourage young people to enroll in a PTS training course, it was imperative to provide users with a clear call to action to learn more about enrollment. Every page on the microsite includes an accessible call to action banner that makes it easy for users to contact website admin with any questions or concerns.
CREDIBILITY THROUGH TESTIMONIALS
On nearly every page, users will see PTS testimonials. Besides adding a human element, they provide evidence of PTS trainings’ real-world results for students, employers, and educators. By providing users with encouraging evidence that this training yields results, and
The combination of CTAs and testimonials exemplifies the strategy PTS enacts to encourage users to enroll in their training courses.
RESPONSIVE DESIGN
The PTS microsite was designed to be mobile responsive, ensuring that the microsite looks just as good on mobile phones as it does on desktop computers. We achieved this by implementing a responsive theme.
SYNCHRONIZED BLOG ARTICLES
The PTS microsite pulls in blog articles from the main IYF website. With this approach, the benefit is that whenever a blog post is updated on the IYF site, the same blog post on the PTS microsite will be automatically updated.
EMPOWERED ADMIN EXPERIENCE
We created a custom layout with a flexible design on all pages of the site. By having all the content of the page inside the WYSIWYG editor, admin users can quickly update content without altering the design layout of the page.
JAVASCRIPT TIMELINE
We embedded a JavaScript-based timeline on the microsite that pulls data from a .csv spreadsheet and creates the necessary data structures from that file. This way, when admin users need to update the timeline, they only need to provide a new .csv file, and not worry about actual coding.
SPECIFIC USER JOURNEY FOR TARGETED AUDIENCES
Brick Factory structured the homepage so that our 4 targeted audiences (employers, educators, government agencies, and nonprofits) can be quickly taken to a specific landing page to understand the benefit of PTS training courses. Each target audience landing page also has a designated color theme shown throughout the page.
