Origin Story

People always ask us about our name. Here's the story.

The Factory’s leadership team met in the late 1990s while working at one of Washington, DC’s first digital agencies.

The agency had an unruly department of recent college graduates that took pride in completing all the grunt work involved in building a website.  This team built website templates, converted 50 page documents into HTML, and cropped countless generic corporate headshots.

These jobs were called “bricks” and the team was nicknamed the “Brick Factory”.

While technology has improved since the 1990s, the digital space is still about hard work. Success is a byproduct of showing up everyday to create features and content that inspire. If you want results, you’re going to have to lay some brick.

So we’re the Brick Factory. We’re who you call when you need to get something done.
